LDS Church Sues and Financially Threatens Town: The Cody, WY Temple Story

What happens when the LDS church wants to build a temple in your town? In this episode of Mormonish, Rebecca and Landon dig into the ongoing Cody, WY temple situation to uncover the tactics the church is using to manipulate the outcome.

The new temple is slated to be built in a neighborhood not zoned for this type of structure. With concerns over traffic, dark skies, height requirements, and more, a group of citizens have formed “Preserve Our Cody Neighborhoods” to try to relocate the temple to a more appropriate site. The fight is heating up and emotions are high as the church filed two lawsuits and threatened to bankrupt the city with legal action. We discuss the situation with Cody resident Yvonne Chandler who gives us the inside scoop into this currently unfolding story.
