Episode 98

Does The LDS Church Share Your Tithing Info?

On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon are joined by Dr. Randy Bell and Sophronia to discuss the recent allegations that the LDS church may have provided tithing information on high net worth members to Tim Ballard and OUR in order to solicit donations.

We also discuss the Prop 8 era when wealthier LDS members were called upon to give money to a third party political entity to influence a vote, and both Randy and Sophronia share their personal stories. We also talk about the fall out from the LDS's influence on the Prop 8 vote.

We don't know what discovery will show in the court case against Tim Ballard and whether it will reveal these allegations of using tithing records are true, but we found it fascinating to discuss past instances of this kind of shared tithing donation information.
